The new element- structure was planned to be independent from the existent courthouse construction-wise, whereas visually and functionally it would completely permeate the facility. By doing that, an intervention, that is transformation, was made but only with respect to the perception of the facility and doing that does not violate the fabric of the facility.
The goal was, that by inserting a new element in the built structure and already present whole, to form a so-called ‘tag’ which will re-emphasize its monumentality and significance in a contemporary manner.
The facility’s public space was also used for implementation of some viability principles- the energy created from the movement of the people and various means of transport was planned to be collected and used for organisation and functioning of the contents in the foreseen viewpoint. Depending on the number of people, the energy obtained could be stronger or weaker, and that would affect the intensity of lighting on the structure of the ‘tag’ itself. Thereby, the new structure would interactively communicate with the square visitors and the rest of the town.
